Teaching, master's theses and outreach at the Universidad Europea
We work with the Universidad Europea on its Máster de Formación Permanente en Inteligencia Artificial Aplicada al Deporte (lifelong learning master's programme in Artificial Intelligence Applied to Sport): we supervise master's theses, give outreach talks and workshops and, from the 2026/27 academic year, we teach on the programme.
AI applied in an amateur club
A talk on how a neighbourhood club brings artificial intelligence into its day-to-day management, with real examples from the Vallekas Basket ecosystem: seven tools built at a very low cost.
A WhatsApp assistant that serves families at any hour, a match portal that updates itself, automated video analysis of matches, a drill library for coaches, live statistics, attendance tracking and an online academy for players and families. More than a catalogue of tools, the talk shares what we learnt along the way.

The programme draws on 30 real, verified cases of AI in sport and on our own web platform with the slides, workshops and quizzes of the day, and culminates in an escape room.
The workshop had a very positive reception from the programme's management and from the students.
Five master's theses supervised
During the 2025/26 academic year, Javier supervised five master's theses on the programme, all born of real problems in sport. We describe them without naming people or clubs.
- A scouting system for youth basketball that combines the scout's notes, structured with a language model, with statistical profiles and performance prediction.
- A generative AI decision-support system that personalises padel training sessions, evaluated in a pilot with players from a padel school.
- A muscle injury risk dashboard for the medical department of a professional football club, with explainable models and clinical rules.
- A tool that turns volleyball scouting files into statistics, visualisations and a natural-language chat for the coaching staff.
- A lower limb injury prevention system that applies machine learning to dynamometry strength measurements, born of sports physiotherapy practice.

We join the master's teaching staff
From the 2026/27 academic year, Javier and Óscar join the teaching staff of the Máster de Formación Permanente en Inteligencia Artificial Aplicada al Deporte, in addition to supervising master's theses. Óscar teaches the two modules that open the programme and Javier teaches a new subject this year.
