Manifesto
First we understand the sport. Then we write the first line of code.
We were not born to develop software
We were born to help people.
Long before building applications, working with data or talking about artificial intelligence, we were already devoting our time to teaching.
At fifteen we started giving private lessons out of financial necessity. Before long, we discovered something that would end up shaping our path: we enjoyed helping other people achieve their goals.
That feeling never changed. Only the tools did.
Sport taught us to work with people
Being coaches taught us that every player learns, progresses and needs to be supported in a different way.
Being referees taught us the importance of rules, objectivity and decision-making under pressure.
Founding and running a club taught us that leading a sports organisation means building culture, looking after people and solving problems every day.
University taught us to research, to question and to keep learning.
Engineering taught us to build solid, scalable and useful solutions.
Today, all of that is part of DOCERO.
We also build for those who are just starting
Before we were engineers, university lecturers or founders of a company, we were students.
We were coaches. We were referees. We were sports administrators. And we were also people to whom someone decided to give a chance when we did not yet stand out.
One of us started playing basketball at twelve, with no previous sporting experience and far from any idea of high performance. They found people who understood that the quality of a sporting experience should not depend on the level at which each person arrived.
We have never forgotten that opportunity.
That is why we also build for those who are just starting, for those who are still learning and for those who may never be the best, but who deserve to be treated as someone who matters.
Excellence is not a privilege
We believe that quality should not depend on a person's level, an organisation's budget or a club's size.
A child starting to play deserves an excellent experience.
A volunteer coach deserves excellent tools.
A small club deserves excellent technology.
A federation deserves solutions built with the same rigour as any large organisation.
Excellence is not a prize reserved for those who already stand out. It is a responsibility for those of us who have the capacity to build it.
We believe sport deserves better technology
Too many people spend hours on repetitive tasks.
Too many decisions are made without using the information available.
Too much knowledge ends up lost in spreadsheets, messages, isolated documents or in people's memories.
We do not believe the problem is a lack of commitment. We believe that many organisations have not had the right tools.
We want to help change that.
We do not make technology to impress
We make it so that a coach can spend more time coaching.
So that a technical director can spend time planning instead of managing repetitive tasks.
So that a referee finds the information they need sooner.
So that a club can take better care of its players, coaches and families.
So that a federation can focus on growing its sport.
If a feature does not improve someone's life or work, it does not deserve to exist.
First we understand the sport
We will never develop a tool simply because a technology is in fashion.
Artificial intelligence is extraordinary, but it is not our product.
Our product is helping people and sports organisations work better, make better decisions and make use of the knowledge they already generate.
That is why we listen before we propose.
We understand before we design.
And only then do we write the first line of code.
We invest where it makes an impact
For years we have argued that data, training and technology are not an expense when they create real capabilities for an organisation.
That same principle guides our decisions as engineers, teachers and founders of a sports club.
We do not skimp on what improves people's experience. Nor do we invest for show.
We invest where it makes an impact: in good professionals, good tools, security, training, product and support.
We do not seek to spend less. We seek to use every resource with purpose.
We do not want to sell software
We want to build relationships of trust.
Our aspiration is that when a federation or a sports club faces a major challenge, DOCERO is the first name that comes to mind.
Not because we are the ones who talk most about artificial intelligence, but because they know we will understand their situation, speak their language and support the process after implementation.
We do not want to be a vendor who waits for a list of requests.
We want to observe, ask, anticipate and evolve alongside the organisations we work with.
We will never stop learning or teaching
We are teachers by vocation and by career.
We teach technical engineering subjects, supervise master's theses in artificial intelligence and take part in academic projects that become solutions and working prototypes applicable to sport.
We keep learning, researching and preparing a future line of doctoral research on artificial intelligence, telematic systems and the sporting ecosystem.
We believe that knowledge that does not evolve ends up obsolete, and that knowledge that is not shared loses much of its value.
Our laboratory has a name
Vallekas Basket.
A club founded in 2022 that grew from around forty players to around three hundred, and twenty-six teams.
A project built in a working-class neighbourhood, with a strong social and educational vocation, where we believe that every player deserves a serious, professional experience, regardless of their level.
It is the place where we experience many of the problems we want to solve, test ideas, listen to coaches and families, learn from our mistakes and use our own tools before offering them to others.
We do not develop from outside sport. We build from within.
We will never forget where we come from
We come from a family in which teaching, supporting others and getting by were part of our upbringing.
We come from a neighbourhood where many opportunities are built together.
We come from classrooms, courts, changing rooms, scorers' tables, club offices and data departments.
We believe in effort, in commitment, in education and in sport as a tool for expanding opportunities.
We want DOCERO to keep those values whatever its size.
Our success
Our success will not be measured only by the projects we deliver or the technology we develop.
It will be measured by the time we manage to give back to people.
By the decisions we help to improve.
By the coaches who can spend more time developing players.
By the clubs that run better.
By the federations that innovate without losing their essence.
By the small organisations that can access first-rate tools.
And by the people who find in sport opportunities similar to those that others offered us.
Our commitment
We will never stop listening.
We will never stop learning.
We will never build a solution without first understanding the problem.
We will never confuse novelty with usefulness.
We will never lose sight of the fact that behind every piece of data, every report and every screen there is a person.
And we will never forget why we started.
Because long before writing a line of code, we already wanted to help people achieve their goals.
If one day DOCERO stops asking itself how to improve people's experience and focuses solely on developing technology, it will have lost what gave it meaning from the very beginning.
We do not want to be the company that boasts most about programming.
We want to be the company that best understands the sport before writing a single line of code.
